  • Can Litecoin really be silver to gold like in the industry?

There might be many people aware of Bitcoin, but many who are not sure about Litecoin, it was first launched (announced) in 2011 with the aim been it to be like what silver is to gold in real market, but did they achieved it? Let’s analysis….

As it stands Litecoin has the 2nd highest market cap after Bitcoins, so in a way it has definitely achieved the target it was created with!

How do you say that? I mean Bitcoin is running at around 500-600 while Litecoin is not even 10% to that level, but I won’t argue that this is definitely the 2nd best after Bitcoin, but still not as popular as one think and you can compare Bitcoin to Gold/Silver, but Litecoin still has long way to go before you can actually put it down to that list. However, it’s just my view about it.

Those are metal and part of real world and have their own importance in our real life; it’s crazy to compare it to those with things like BTC or eve LTC. I don’t know where these talks even came, but it’s completely non-sense making type. However, if you are just asking about the comparison of BTC with LTC than it’s not even close in actual terms and that can be seen crystal clear, so no it’s worth it.

No, it’s can’t because it’s not that good while Bitcoin can definitely be said as close to Gold in all ways, but Silver can’t be replicated, at least not by stuff like Litecoin which is hardly surviving, so let alone this making mark near Silver levels. In fact, I think there is better digital currency in Ethereum and if anything then it’s definitely this currency that I will keep eye on to reach decent heights.

Gold/Silver? Why are we even comparing it? It’s crazy to do the comparison between Digital Currency which are only online based to something which is used in real life, it’s not the fair comparison at all. Now, if we just talk about the rates then also here is a daylight difference to these things, so I am still not sure where this comparison thing has popped up? It’s hardly making any sense to me at all.

This is laugh able, I mean look at the rates of LTC and tell me how in the world do you compare it to anything like Silver?

This is incorrect comparison because one is just too strong and altogether in different league while other one is not even better in it’s on field because many other Crypto Currencies are ahead at the moment, so I believe first it needs to build a gap between that then we can think of comparison.

That’s valid point Alexander Bukarev, I have same view that the difference is just too huge and even Bitcoin is not in the same league as Gold. The price of Gold is seriously high and is something which is certain to rise every year, but this is not what you say about Bitcoin because the price for them is forever stuck and only once we saw it going up to 1000, I don’t think that gives you something to be dancing over.

Litecoin is not popular at all, so how that can be anything like that?

Currently it’s in top 15, but placed at around 9/10 position, so how are you putting it ahead of others which have already proven themselves to be mega level after Bitcoin, so if anything I would put those upfront in the race instead of something like Litecoin which is past the popularity mark and remains decent but not the one you could bet house on.

I also agree with Alex, LTC isn’t the brightest spot out there, so that’s why it’s not comparable to anything else at all and we shouldn’t be doing it either to be on fair side. I would love to have Gold and Silver because even in worst scenario, I know I can’t get killed out or need to worry about anything at all because this is the real deal.

I won’t say we need to worry about LTC or Digital currency in general, but still it’s very much second pick.

I think Litecoin has lost the popularity and other Crypto currencies had overtaken it. There is still room for improvement for Litecoin and there is still place in top but it all depends on the users with the usual demand & supply! I don’t know how much space is there for all crypto currencies as people may not be able to monitor all and most importantly use all. So, only few would survive for longer and rest would simply fall away!

Agree with Michael. Litecoin’s popularity is on the decline over time with others overtaking it and it might have to put much effort to get back to the top! So everything then boils down to how the investors see the valuations based on the Demand & Supply!

Crypto-currency markets are also quite fickle with lots of fluctuations and wild swings in price. We can compare crypto’s to silver & gold symbolically but not in reality as the latter remain quite valuable!

Farhad, Litecoin is no longer 2nd in the list and your thread/post was also made on 09-28-2016. As of now, Litecoin is at the 4th place with Ethereum and Ripple at 2nd and 3rd positions respectively! So we can’t even symbolically place Litecoin in comparison to Silver. So the fight for the top seems to between Bitcoin and Ethereum even though it might change later. Bitcoin is still on the top in all parameters. Point is, Litecoin has lost its sheen, so to speak!

Lol, first Litecoin needs to be something for this industry then it is sensible to think for ahead.

As right now the way things are going and where we are heading, I think it is not going to be taken too seriously there are too many ahead of this. This looks more like a 90-95 year old patient surviving on oxygen mask, so this is something that might not last too far ahead.

Litecoin has lost that X-factor, it is not going to be anywhere near Silver in terms of price, so let alone it to be near the value of it. I think the best bet after BTC is Ethereum or Dash in the way they are growing, but even then they are too far and also much behind in terms of value. It is irrelevant about the price, as potential to me is unbeatable!

It has the potential to reach that limit... I cannot say or judge it only with the market cap... But the way in which coin is raising its value definitely it will take over gold and silver sooner..! Currently bitcoin cost above gold per coin. There will be a day definitely when litecoin stands the same way….we all are waiting for it….. So, let’s hope for good and maybe it will work that way!
